Senior Sybase DBA

Description:
A senior level database administrator provides technical support for multiple
Sybase databases on many ASE and IQ servers in production, development and test
environments.
Primary duties are to:

* Technical Team Lead for a 3-person Data Management team, as part of 40+ person
software development group
* Lead data architect responsible for all aspects of enterprise database design
and management
*Monitor availability and performance of production databases and servers;
* Daily database maintenance, user assistance and troubleshooting;
* Analyze and resolve complex technical problems, including performance tuning,
and application design and debugging;
* Conduct/support OS and hardware maintenance in coordination with system group;
* Participate and perform migrations into Development/Production environments;
* Monitor database backups and maintain recovery procedures;
* Administer and follow Sybase Server and other security standards;
* Plan database and server level capacity according to statistics and user
requests;
* Work through disaster recovery plans with other groups and departments;
* Install and configure new servers and databases;

Qualifications:
* B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
* 8-10 years hands-on experience in enterprise level Sybase database
administration and Transact- SQL usage;
* 5+ year recent, hands-on database administration experience using Sybase
Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.x, Sybase IQ and Replication Server;
* Hands-on experience in relational database design and data modeling;
* Experience in large databases, supporting OLTP applications, and Replication
technologies;
* Experience in managing MS SQL Server is a plus
* Strong verbal and written communication skills;
* Work effectively in a team environment.
