Platform:

ASE: Solaris 10

ASA: Windows XP

ASA MobiLink server: Windows XP

Version:

ASE: 15

ASA: 11

ASA MobiLink server: 11

ASE ODBC driver on Windows: version 15:.00.00.356

Sybase Open Client: 15.0, ESD#22

The following problems were encountered when synchronizing the data with
TEXT data type between ASE and ASA. The column #3 on this table is a text
field in both ASE and ASA. However, we don't have any problems with ASA
version 9 when synchronizing the same data in this table between ASE and
ASA.

E. 2010-04-30 12:23:49. Error code from MobiLink server: -10211
E. 2010-04-30 12:23:49. Server error: Message: A downloaded value for table
'tablename' (column #3) contains character data that cannot be converted.
Table Name: tablename

Any ideas?

Thanks,

liyp

Liyp,

You did not mention whether this is MobiLink 11.0.0 or 11.0.1. Either way you are not using the
recommended ASE ODBC driver.

For MobiLink 11.0.1 the recommended driver is 15.0.0.335 (Win32 and 64) available in ASE 15.0 ESD #16.

For MobiLink 11.0.0 the recommended driver is 15.0.0.325 for Windows available in Sybase Software
Developer Kit - 15 ESD #15.

Can you please retest with the appropriate recommended ASE ODBC driver?

Josh,

We currently use MobiLink version 11.0.1. We installed the driver with the
latest version ASE 15.0 ESD #22. Do you mean the ODBC driver for MobiLink
version 11.0.1 is only available in ASE 15.0 ESD #16?

Liyp,

Our testing found an issue with TEXT truncation in ASE 15.0 ESD #22. This issues sounds like the
behaviour you're currently experiencing. For this reason we recommend using the ODBC driver from ASE
15.0 ESD #16 with the MobiLink server.

Josh,

We still got the same problem to synchronize the data with text field
between ASE and ASA even though ASE 15.0 ESD #16 ODBC driver 15.0.0.335 is
installed.

Thanks,
liyp

What version of the MobiLink server are you running?
Can you provide a -v+ ML server log and an ODBC trace that shows the problem?

Just as a note, I'm out of the office until next Tuesday. Post the logs to the newsgroup and someone
should be able to help you out. You might also consider opening a technical support case by calling
1-800-8Sybase if this is a critical problem.

Josh,

How to get an ODBC trace? I have provided the table definition and ML log
with v+ option as follows. Thanks for your great help!

Table Definition:
create table TBLNAME (
col1 char(3) not null ,
col2 varchar(138) not null,
col3 text null,
last_modified_dttm datetime DEFAULT getdate () not null
)

Below is the ML log with V+ option
