Hi,

I need to coonect to a database remote, example:
This is my connection string

DirCliente = "L:\aplica\imss"
connectionString = "Provider=Advantage OLE DB Provider;"+;
"Data Source="+dirCliente+";"+;
"ServerType=ADS_REMOTE_SERVER;"+;
"DbfsUseNulls=TRUE;"+;
"TableType=ADS_CDX;" +;
"LOckMode=ADS_PROPRIETARY_LOCKING;"+;
"SecurityMode=ADS_CHECKRIGHTS;"+;
"CharType=ADS_OEM;"

But now I need to connect to another server, example:
pedgdl.imsslab.net\datafolder

Thank's
Hugo

Hi Hugo,

You should be able to use a path of the form
"\\pedgdl.imsslab.net\datafolder\yourpath". If the remote machine cannot be
reached by multicast packets for discovery (e.g., if it is on a different
subnet and an intermediate router does not forward multicast packets), then
you can include the port number in the path:
"\\pedgdl.imsslab.net:6262\datafolder\yourpath". The port 6262 is the
default port used by Advantage Database Server; if you have it configured
differently, use the correct one in the connection string.

Hi Hugo,

I forgot to mention this. You may need to change the SecurityMode setting
to SecurityMode=ADS_IGNORERIGHTS. The ADS_CHECKRIGHTS setting causes the
client to attempt to verify the existence of tables (for direct table opens)
before requesting the server to open them. If the client machine does not
have file server access to the remote machine, that check will fail.
