I need to connect to a remote DBF's tables with ADV 6.2, my APP it's in VFP
and now it's working fine with the Advantage OLEDB 6.2, I'm using the next
connectionString with the property ServerType=ADS_REMOTE_SERVER

DirCliente = "L:\aplica\imss"
connectionString = "Provider=Advantage OLE DB Provider;"+;
"Data Source="+dirCliente+";"+;
"ServerType=ADS_REMOTE_SERVER;"+;
"DbfsUseNulls=TRUE;"+;
"TableType=ADS_CDX;" +;
"LOckMode=ADS_PROPRIETARY_LOCKING;"+;
"SecurityMode=ADS_CHECKRIGHTS;"+;
"CharType=ADS_OEM;"

Ok. I got some question:
1.- Can I to do that to connect to a remote DBF's tables with ADV OLEDB ?
2.- If I can, Can I to connect to a remote DBF's tables whitout
DataDirectory, just with free tables using the path ?
3.- Can I use the property ServerType=ADS_REMOTE_SERVER or I need to change
to ServerType=ADS_AIS_SERVER?
4.-Mark told me that I need to put the name server like this
"\\pedgdl.imsslab.net:6262\datafolder\yourpath", can I use the letter drive
example:
"\\pedgdl.imsslab.net:6262\l:\aplica\imss\" ?
5.- I need the files ADS.INI or ADS.COM, because I don't have it?
6.- How can I test if the server and the port it's all right and the
Advantage server it's Answering maybe with the ARC ?

Thank you very much !!

Hugo

Yes

Yes

You can leave it as ADS_REMOTE_SERVER

The second example with the drive letter in it will not work. The drive
letter has no meaning in that situation. If your drive letter "L" is
already mapped to the server that you want to connect to, then you can
simply use "L:\path". The client will use the networking APIs to determine
the server and share that L: is mapped to and use that information.

You do not need an ads.ini file. Advantage does not use any file named
ADS.COM that I am aware of, so you definitely should not need that one.

Yes, you can use ARC to test it.
