Has anyone done anything with the amazon cloud services for either sql anywhere or ASE?

I am interested to see what this can do, but I haven't seen anything about it other than press releases

I signed up on amazon to try to get the service running to try it out, but it doesn't seem to want to work.
It also isn't clear whether the development platform is free or if we have to pay something to amazon to use it.

Michael,

I'm not sure about ASE, but we use SQL Anywhere in our product. I found
this info on the http://sqla.stackexchange.com/
site.

http://sqla.stackexchange.com/questions/123/vendor-announcement-cloud-computing-with-sql-anywhere

It's a prerecorded webcast that covers the cloud aspects of SQL Anywhere.

Very cool stuff!!!

hey jeff, thanks for the info. will i see you in DC for techwave?

I am able to get the service started now (my account must have needed more time to be setup).

However, when I go to the firewall setup i am unable to open the SQL anywhere ports (ASE is not available either) since amazon only
has preconfigured ports available and those are MS SQL and Mysql. I will go check the sql anywhere alternative support site.

Can you post some links to this.

I guess I didn't realize that Amazon could run a custom database in the
cloud for you.

Would love to hear how you did it.
