Dear ALL,

I am in the middle of doing the interface with a POS System to chain of
hotel here.

I was successfully get the data I needed to the Foxpro DBF file but not
to this major file.

I got this using ARC

---------------------------
ERROR
---------------------------
There was an error adding F:\Docs\Project\Sogo\DBF3\TRCASHIER.dbf to the
dictionary.

Error 7200: AQE Error: State = HY000; NativeError = 3007;
[iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage SQL][ASA] Error 3007: Unsupported
function found in index key expression.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I don't know what I need to do with this file.
I have tried using DBF Viewer and it can opened without a prob.

I am using ALS since 6.2 without any bad-encounters.

Thanks to all in advance,

Wishing for your guidance.

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I think that the index tag named wizard_2 is the problem. The index
expression is:

DTOS(TTOD(dcheck_in))+STR(HOUR(dcheck_in),2)+STR(MINUTE(dcheck_in),2)+STR(SEC(dcheck_in),2)

The functions TTOD, HOUR, MINUTE, and SEC are not currently supported by
Advantage. However, I think that entire expression can be replaced with the
expression:

ttoc(dcheck_in,1)

The result will be the same except that it will have leading zeros instead
of spaces. For example, the key value for record 1 with the current index
is:

20100409 94515

With the ttoc() index it is:

20100409094515

The TTOC() function was added in v9.x of Advantage.

Hi Mark,

Thanks to your prompt reply. And Im very happy to see the sample output
you did.

BTW, I am using Delphi+ADS Datasets and Arc32 for the DB.

I have installed the ADS 9.x now and I am trying to do query using the
expression but I have no luck for now.

TIA,

Anthony

I am not quite sure I understand your question. Are you trying to create an
index with "ttoc()"? You cannot use CREATE INDEX to do this since that only
allows column names to be specified. However, you can use the system
procedure sp_CreateIndex, for example:

execute procedure sp_CreateIndex( 'trcashier', null, 'wizard_2',
'ttoc(dcheck_in,1)', null, 2, 0 );

The other way is to use ARC (right click on the table, go to properties,
additional indexes tab, etc.)

I am trying to open the file TRCashier for me to execute my queries.

The index that you observed might not be supported.

The only issue to me at the moment that I want to open this table or
execute my queries.

I tried it at arc32 but no luck.

Thanks a lot Mark.

Advantage will not open the table because the index expression of the
wizard_2 tag is not recognized. You can open the table with FoxPro and
delete that index. If that is not possible, you will have to delete the
entire index file, then open the table with Advantage, then re-create the
indexes again. Until that index wizard_2 is gone, Advantage will not open
the table.
