Is ADSDOSIP Version 7.0, dated 9-12-2003, the latest?

It has worked fine with Server 7.1 for years, but I'm having issues with all
subsequent server versions.

With 8.1 and 9.1, when opening an initial 83 files, the application freezes
on file 46. Any user action (keystroke, mouse click) will unfreeze the app
and loading and use continues as normal. This occurs on XP3 as well as
Virtual XP on Windows 7 workstations.

With ADS Version 10.0, our app "attempts" to connect to ADS (activity seen
in the Advantage IP Window) but fails and runs "barefoot".

Any observations, suggestions, etc. will be appreciated.

I think that is the latest version of ADSDOSIP.

But are you using the latest Clipper communication library? Version 7.0.0.1 of
the libraries have a big performance improvement under XP.

Yep, I've tried the last Clipper Comm Libs (which really should be numbered
8.0) and that makes no difference. I still get the hesitation (actually a
stop) when about half of my files have been opened. We've been in the 7.1
environment for years with no issues, so we didn't expect any problems by
simply updating the service service.

I haven't seen this problem with my applications and ADS v8.

Does it still happen in a simpler application - one that just opens all
the tables? And how about with a different set of tables?

It really doesn't matter if another set of data or app will or will not open
the files properly.

This app and data has been working properly since 1996 and version 4.x of
Advantage.

I think the problem is that ADSDOSIP has not been updated since version 7.0
(The three 8.0 lib updates make no difference in this matter.

I find that a strange attitude. Why aren't you interested in
determining the precise cause of this problem?

In my experience the Advantage guys are very helpful once they can
replicate the problem themselves.
