Dear Newsgroup,

in our environment we have a standard DMZ / proxy scenario,
which means, we have a Proxy in DMZ (accessible from the
internet via IP-address) and a MO-Server in the internal
network (company ID 2).

The infrastructure itself works perfect with standard
Symbian and Windows Mobile devices.

Our problem with the IPhone is, that after entering all the
necessary data like Server IP, port, company ID, user and
activation key,
the Iphone does not connect or even tries to. There is no
internet traffic visible and there is no error message at
all on the device.

Simply nothing happens.

We changed all data again and again and even if wrong data
is entered in the device settings nothing happens (no error
messages etc.)

We have the same issue with 2 separate Iphones and users,
reactivations have been done, server reboots, client(app)
reinstallations all without any change...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Christian

Hi Christian,

it sounds like you ran into an iPhone OS4 issue we have with the iPhone
API. Check first if the affected iPhones do indeed run on OS4. If they
do, check out the idea below and also the other newsgroup thread related
to the OS4 version of the iPhone OS.

Please open the iPhone preferences for MobileOffice. Tap into each
configuration field so the courser is active at least once and keep the
correct settings. Then press ok or what ever the corresponding button is.

Cheers,
Dirk

Hello again,

first of all, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately the hint you gave us did not help.

The devices we have is a generation 1 IPhone with software
version 3.1.3 and a generation 2 (3G) with software version
4.

Both do exactly the same thing.

We filled out every field and tapped ok or return as
you mentioned in your post. We did it serveral times,
also we deleted all entrys and reentered everything,
all without any change.

When the client is opened after the settings have been made,
we see the folders like inbox and
outbox, but no network traffic is performed then and all
folders
stay empty. In addition, there is no message or other from
the phone.

Again, with the Symbian and Windows Mobile devices
everything
runs well with exactly the same data entered on the phone.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance,

Christian
