What is that RDDB doesnt do compared to IMDB? All white
paper report "RDDB offers Many of the same optimizations and
features as IMDB" now that is not really helpful - i get
doezen of question in my stupid brain. Any one knows or
point to a link which lists exactly what RDDB does( IMDB as
is quite clear to me or i think so), but dumb RDDB docs are
too vague... any one!

The big difference is that an RDDB isn't kept fully in memory like an
IMDB. For an RDDB there are regular disk devices (not for IMDB) and data
is read/written through buffers pools (not reads/writes for IMDB),
including APF disk reads ; and a regular cache is used with the classic
LRU-MRU mechanism inside (in an IMDB cache those things have been
removed); tables and indexes can be bound to named caches (no such thing
for IMDBs).
The optimizations around transaction logging rules are mostly the same
in an RDDB as for an IMDB, since an RDDB doesn't have to be recoverable
under all circumstances either, like an IMDB (an RDDB with
durability=at_shutdown is recoverable but that is a special case).

This (and more) is described in the whitepaper at
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1067053 .
