We have a user who just got their iphone 4. They went to
the ATT store and had their phone copied from their iphone
3G. I am trying to configure iAnywhere on this, but it does
not seem to connect.

I tried removing the device from the admin, removing the app
from the iphone, registering the user again, reinstalling
the app, and reconfiguring the phone client.

The admin shows the status as registered, no device
information.

Phone client shows connecti...

Has anyone had any luck with the new iphones?
Other devices seem to be working fine, including 3's that
have the OS upgraded to iphone 4 and an ipad using 3.2

Installed latest OS update on iPhone4. Did not help. (must
have been the antenna display patch)

iAnywhere app still has message:
Mobile Office
Please go to the iAnywhere page in the Settings application
and enter your configuration information.

In the Config, after entering the information, we never get
"Connection" We get "Connecti..."

As a test, just re-configured a wiped iPod Touch. iPod
seems to work fine. iPhone4, not so much.

Hi Al,

as posted above, I really expect this to be not an iPhone 4 issue. It
sounds like an iOS4 issue our client currently has.

This workaround was taken from one of my earlier posts:

Only OS4 with the current iPhone client
---------------------------------------
When you enter the configuration data, the port 5001 is prepopulated.
1. Select the port field
2. Delete the 5001
3. Renter the 5001 manually
Done

Cheers,
Dirk

Thanks Dirk:

I did try to remove port 5001 and readd 5001 to the iphone
4. This still did not fix the issue.

I guess we'll try resetting the phone and reinstalling all
apps instead of allowing a restore as the next step.

As a side note, I upgraded an ipod touch to iOS4. On this
one, the port 5001 re-entry did fix the issue.

Side-side note, not really liking the speed loss and battery
life loss with the iOS4 on the iPod Touch.

Hi Al,

did you try to uninstall the iMO client, register the user, then
reinstall the iMO client?

Maybe you want to test if this user works with a different device type
(eg. WM, or Symbian)

Yes, it seems the iOS 4 is somewhat slower than version 3 has been. But
then, it does provide multitasking and other niceties. We just have to
acknowledge the good old fact that there is no free lunch, right? :-)

Hi Dirk:

We tried restoring the iPhone 4 via itunes, restored
software, delete ianywhere, reinstall ianywhere, 5001
delete. This did not work.

Then we tried restoring the iphone 4, did not restore
software, installed ianywhere, this did not work. Then we
tried the 5001 clearing. Still does not work.

This user also has an iPad, which connects fine.

Are there any users out there that have this working with an
iphone4 yet? To me, this sounds like there's a new security
setting in the iphone4 that is slightly different than an
iphone3GS with iOS4.

Ok, I take it back. The restore/reinstall worked, after
waiting overnight and doing the 5001 fix.

Strange.

But I guess patience works!

All good now.
