Hi, all.

I have to connect some old clipper application to a remote server.
If I compile it with ip libraries and use adsdosip application, what else
do I need ??

I think I need some ads.ini to configure the server I want to connect, right??

This remote server has a DD created, so I think my ads.ini must indicate
that DD in that remote server.

How I do this ??

In this case, I can use the "use table" as always ??, so not make so many
changes on code.

Thanks

Generally speaking, nothing else, but see below...

Generally no, but if you get a 6420 you may want to configure an ADS.ini
with the following (ADS.ini will go in the adsdosip directory)
[<Servername>]
LAN_IP=<IP ADDRESS>
LAN_PORT=<PORT Default 6262>

Are your tables added the DD? Regardless, you don't actually have to
connect to the DD, but if they are added to the DD see below for
instructions if you want to connect in this method. Really you only
need to do this if you are using "Internet" connection type. DBF tables
added to a dictionary can still be opened as free tables.

From the ADSDOSIP readme:

a) AIS as a stand-alone utility is no longer supported when using
ADSDOSIP. ADSDOSIP can connect to AIS which is integrated into
the Advantage Database Server v6.11.

See the "Advantage Internet Server" topic in the Advantage
Database Server help file (ADS.HLP) for more information.
Additionally, the following settings need to
be in the ADS.INI file.

COM_TYPE is the server type. SEC2 is user name for the user in
the Advantage Data Dictionary. SEC1 is the password for the
user. ADD is the path to the Advantage Data Dictionary. The
rest of the parameters are explained in the before mentioned
section of the help file.

[ServerName]
COM_TYPE=AIS
SEC1=mypassword
SEC2=DAVE
ADD=\\servername\share\data\test.add
# Use these settings for version 6.1 or greater communication DLLs
INTERNET_IP=100.60.200.55
INTERNET_PORT=2001
