My client/server application uses sqlca.userid and
sqlca.logpass to login. How do I make the appeon deployed
application use the same input to connect to the database?

My client/server application uses sqlca.userid and
sqlca.logpass to login. They are both single line edits
from my login window and am just using CONNECT using SQLCA.
How do I make the appeon deployed application use the same
input to connect to the database?

Hi lisa,

Appeon for .Net version (EAServer version can't support this
feature)can support the dynamically set the connection cache
username and password. You can go to the connection cache
of AEM to set this feature.
Dynamic Database Connection: On
Let me explain Appeon database connection mechanism a little
bit. Unlike PowerBuilder's direct database connection,
Appeon uses connection cache to connect to the database.
Besides, you have to pre-configure database host and
database name and port that are used to connect to the
database.

SQLCA.DBMS = "OLE DB" //This property corresponds to the
Connection Type of Connection Cache.
SQLCA.LogPass = “appeon” // This property corresponds
to the password of Connection Cache. And if you set dynamic
database connection of connection cache property is on in
the Appeon for .NET version, Appeon can support Logid and
logpass of transaction property. For example, sqlca.logid
= sle_1.text; sqlca.logpass=sle_2.text.
SQLCA.LogId = "sa" // This property corresponds to the
user name of Connection Cache.
SQLCA.AutoCommit = False
SQLCA.DBParm =
"PROVIDER='SQLOLEDB',DATASOURCE='localhost',PROVIDERSTRING='database='test''"
// This property corresponds to the database host and
database name of Connection Cache.

Regards,
Steven

Unfortunately, I have EAServer and Appeon 6.2.0079.

I have pre-confirgured my connection cache in EAServer with
pre-defined username and password. However, what I need is
for the application to verify the user's Oracle userid and
password prior to opening the application which is currently
bypassed.

What will be the best option to fix this? I don't want to
create/maintain a separate list of userid/password using the
Appeon Security. Does that mean I need to switch my server
to IIS to make this work with the dynamic connection cache?

Hi Lisa,

Yes, because you are using Appeon for EAServer version, the
EAServer doesn't provide any interface to change the
username and password of the datasource. So you need to
switch your server to IIS to make this work with the dynamic
connection cache.

Steven
