Hi all,

I have the MDF & LDF files of MS SQL Server 2005. But we don
not have have MS SQL server. We have licensed copies of ASE
12/12.5 on Windows (server & Advanced Server) , HP UX 11.0
and RHEL 5.0. Is it possible for me to attach the MS SQL MDF
file to a ASE database and extract both the table structure
& data? Or is there any way where I can access through
sybase?

no. MSSQL mdf files can not be attached to ASE. attach it to MSSQL and use
Direct Connect (ECDA) to access that data.

In addition to what Kevin has suggested, you can try to attach MDF file by
downloading free version of MS SQL , attach the file in MS SQL , bcp out or
use export wizard to extract data
and then bcp in in to ASE

good point Manish. That would involve much less software :) DDL can be
obtained from MSSQL Studio Express and applied to ASE. Bcp the data out of
MSSQL, and into ASE making sure to use character mode bcp out of MSSQL, and
into ASE.
