I have an iPhone 4 and together with our corporate IT
deptmt, we are struggling to make it synch.
Apparently the server is recognized as a huge number of
messages appear on the entry icon.
The IT guys have re-entered my settings on their server,
sent me new activation codes and I respected all the setting
parameters which they sent me (see attachment).
I can enter into the s/w, enter the PW code but then nothing
is synch. Neither the messages or the
contacts/tasks/calenders.

Thanks for any advice.....

Hi,

there are a few things you could check out.

1.
Try to enter only your short name (login name) into the name field.
I think it is unusual to have the full email address in the iMO client.
I do not say this does not work, but usually I use my login/shortname in
this user name field. If you are part of a large enterprise, the email
address might be a requirement.

2.
Check with your IT guys if the have other devices up and working on port 80.
We have a long history of issues with Orange France as it seems they
have (had?) caching proxies on port 80. At least for Orange Standard,
Orange Enterprise was working I think.
A caching proxy tends to carble our traffic so you do get some kind of
connection but never get any real data to the device. If the IT has
other people working happily with iMO on port 80, you should not need to
worry about it.

Cheers,
Dirk

>Hi Dirk,

This may be the reason. The iAnywhere server is located in
Switzerland where the H/O is and I work remotely out of
France with an Orange Sim Card, resp. french phone number.

Is it worthwhile checking with orange or is there no chance
that it works ?

For the 1. part, it is my company requirement to have the
full email adress entered.
Thanks vy much......

Hi,

well, I do not expect you will get any good answer out of Orange as they
run a huge organisation and you will just not be able to find the right
person to ask.

If you do run a private (non corpoorate) SIM contract, your chances are
high that the Orange proxy is the problem.

You could try this:
1. If you device is not sim locked, try to use a different (none Organe)
SIM card and see if that works.
Or if you have a SIM locked device, grab a WindowsMobile or Symbian
device, install the iMO client and your SIM card. Then test if you face
the same issue.

2. Ask your corporate IT to configure the iMO Relay Server / DMZ proxy
to listen to the outside internet on Port 80 AND some other port (e.g.
5001). Both of our proxy technologies can listen to inbound iMO client
connections on more than one port. It just needs to be configured.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Dirk
