Hi. I need to change exchange server in the groupware
adapter as we soon are decomissioning the old server. will
this have impact on our sync users? I'm afraid that this
change will force a initial sync.

Hi Anders,

please expect a initial sync for all users.

Just pointing the adapter onto an other ip/server name might not cause
an initial sync. But as the Exchange Backendserver will probably have
been changed drastically, you really should expect an initial sync. If
you want to know for sure you will need to test this scenario first.

Please be prepared to update the CDO.DLL on the Exchange Adapter in the
process. A new exchange server will most likely run an updated CDO and
thus you may need to update this on the adapter as well to make things work.

Cheers,
Dirk

Thanks Dirk.

The thing is all mailboxes is migrated to the new server
some time ago (exc2). The OneBridge adapter is pointing to
ex1, which is empty. Ex1 route the traffic to exc2 (as
they're both in the same exchange routing group). Both
exchange servers has the same patch level. (The only
difference is that exc2 is virtual (and stable)) If I
understand you correctly, the change will therefore not
trigger an initial sync?!

Regards, Anders

Hi Anders,

the way you describe it, you should have a fair chance that this will
not cause an initial sync.
But it depends on how the migration was done. Only if the data on the
new exchange still has the same internal ID's, then it will not be a
problem.

Again, you will only know for sure if you test this.

Considering the risk and user impact, I would recommend to prepare
everyone for an initial sync. Reconfigure the remote adapter. Trigger an
initial sync for all users on this adapter to make sure you maintain
data consistency. This at least would be a controlled procedure with no
surprises.

Because you could also end up with a situation where the system does not
detect that an initial sync is needed but the data is inconsistent the
sync contracts are off. Then you would need to do an emergency initial
sync and that will catch the users by surprise....

Maybe consider buying some consulting on this. In the long run, you
should migrate to MobileOffice. This could be a good opportunity to
start. :-)
