I recall when I saw the Afaria demo on using the software
with the iPhone or iPad that there was mention that the
product required a membership to the Apple Developer
Connection. Is this true and if so why is it needed? What
level of membership is required for the Afaria software?

Michael,

Afaria 6.6 uses the Apple Push Notification Service manage
policies on iOS 4 devices. In order to test this
functionality in the 6.6 Beta program with iOS 4 devices,
you need to register with Apple to use the Apple Push
Notification Service.

When registering for access, you can either request a
developer account or enterprise developer account with
Apple. It may be best to review the description of each
account to determine which best fits your organization. Keep
in mind that there is a charge from Apple for creating
either or these accounts.

Additionally, the developer account is needed in order to be
given access to create the Apple Push Notification Service
certificate. You will also need this account in order to
download the Apple intermediate and root certificates needed
for iOS4 device management in Afaria 6.6 Beta.
