Sybase Central appear to hang for around 2 minutes every now
and again
Sybase Central
ASE 15.0.3

At that time a
select * from master..monProcessSQLText

indicate it is doing:

creation_date=O.crdate,, sysstat2
, table_object_type='U', remote_object='',
, row_count(23,
, reserved_pages(23,
, data_pages(23,
, data_pages(23,, 0)
from mx_docc.dbo.sysobjects O, mx_docc.dbo.sysusers U
where O.uid = U.uid
and O.type = 'U'
and sysstat2 & 1024 != 1024
and like '%'
and like '%'
order by 1

Is there a way to tel Sybase central not to display table
size/rowcount info
There is almost ten thousand tables in the database

If I test the query without the row_count() and ...pages()
functions the elapsed time is half a second
Put the functions back and…
Adaptive Server elapsed time: 106396 ms.

I have a few databases with 1000's of objects... many client graphical apps (3rd party) hang when loading the table list.
You may be able to build a name cache for your system tables to prevent the physical io of calculating these values.
