Hi, we just migrated to ASE15.0.3 from 12.5.4 and also moved to a new open
client version and are having a really annoying problem. We use the output
from isql for some crude reports that either get printed or emailed to
users. The problem is that the number of dashes (---) is double what it
used to be. This causes the reports to look horrible in the new version.

I think the problem is open client related. The version of isql that is
giving me problems is:
Sybase CTISQL Utility/15.0/P-EBF16297 ESD #16/DRV.15.0.7/Linux Intel/Linux
2.4.21-47.0.1.ELsmp i686/BUILD1500-112/OPT/Mon Oct 13 03:17:22 2008

I have tried converting the columns to their exact length but I am still
getting double the number of dashes in the output.

I do NOT seem to have this problem using isql in windows. That version is:
Sybase CTISQL Utility/15.0/P-EBF16299 ESD #16/PC Intel/BUILD1500-112/OPT/Sun
Oct 12 23:01:12 2008

Is there an EBF for open client in Linux that fixes this problem?

Thanks,
Jay

What character set is your ASE configured for?
On the LINUX platform, is the LANG (or possibly LC_ALL) environment
variable set to UTF8?
If so, try unsetting the variable.

Thanks all, unsetting the LANG variable worked like a champ!

what is your default character set? Have you tried telling isql to use a
different character set?

Likely a character set conversion issue. See
