All,

I am trying to install Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise
15.5 on my local Windows 7 64 bit machine however at the end
of the install process I receive the following exception.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Cannot run program "F:\Sybase\ASE-15_0\bin\sybatch.exe" (in
directory "F:\Sybase"): CreateProcess error=14001, The

application has failed to start because its side-by-side
configuration is incorrect. Please see the application

event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more
detail

one of the solved case says ...

1 ) Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64),
according to URL below :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BA9257CA-337F-4B40-8C14-157CFDFFEE4E&displaylang=en

2 ) Check if .NET 2 SP1 was installed at directory below:

"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727".

3 ) Remove / rename vpd.properties files.

4 ) set INSTALL_ALL_PATCH=1 variable.

5 ) Copy the folder "Microsoft.VC80.MFC" to $SYBASE/ASE-15_0/bin

Hello, I have the very same error and machine (Windows 7 64 bits). Trying to
follow these steps, I have run into the following problems:

>>>> 1 ) Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64),

Running the installer it prompts me with a Repair/Remove option. Therefore, i
had it installed beforehand. I chose Repair option.

>>>> 3 ) Remove / rename vpd.properties files.

Where is this file located? I haven't found it, doing a search.

>>>> 4 ) set INSTALL_ALL_PATCH=1 variable.

As an environment variable?

>>>> 5 ) Copy the folder "Microsoft.VC80.MFC" to $SYBASE/ASE-15_0/bin

Where is this folder located? Again, I did a search on this to no avail.

These are the steps I followed to install Sybase 15.5 Developer Edition on
Windows Server 2008 R2:

1. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)
a.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BA9257CA-337F-4B40-8C14
-157CFDFFEE4E&displaylang=en

2. Verify .NET 2 SP1 was installed at directory below:
a. "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727".
3. Add the following system environment variable:
a. INSTALL_ALL_PATCH=1
4. When installing Sybase 15.5, select the "Full" installation option.
5. Once the installation has installed the files but before the configuration
starts, copy the folder "C:\Sybase\DataAccess64\bin\Microsoft.VC80.MFC" to
"C:\Sybase\ASE-15_0\bin"
a. The full path should look like this when done:
C:\Sybase\ASE-15_0\bin\Microsoft.VC80.MFC

Hope this helps...

Hello,
I think it could be even 2005, but sxstrace should tell you for sure.
