HI

Have created tempdb devices on file system devices for a
linux host. However runing checkdb storage for this tempdb
is resulting in read errors as below

sddone: 2048 bytes passed, 0 returned on read for virt disk
13 block 2047749
sddone: read error on virtual disk 13 block 2047749:

Nothing indicated on os logs or storage logs.

Any advise?

What is the OS and ASE version are you are using ? In most cases this type
of error indicates although device is accesssible
There is a very old article written for such type of errors which might be
useful to have a look

Its Linux redhat 2.6.18-238.1.1.el5 #1 running ASE15.0.3
ESD3. I can only reproduce error running dbcc checkstorage
on tempdb. All other tempdb writes and reads appear to go
through without error

You might try moving tempdb off that device, create another
database on it, and see if checkstorage on the new database
hits the same error.

Could figure out which logical page number maps to that
block and see if dbcc page gets a similar error

Could try running an io stress testing utility on that device.
