How do you guys handle security when moving to the Web? I
created an Appeon User to connect but when running the app I
need to revert to the roles that the logged in user has.
It is not feasible to create in Appeon a connection for
every single user (we have hundreds).

Hi Robert;

Do you mean from the Web browser to your application in Appeon; between
Appeon's running application and the DBMS or both?

Sorry but I'm not sure I understood your question.

Let's say I have MyTable. I have a dw that uses MyTable.
joe_user has Select,Insert,Update,Delete on that table.

When connecting to the Web app I need a connection cache.
So, I create one using appeon_user which I set up that is a
user on my DB but has no roles. I run my app and appeon_user
makes the connection to my DB. I have a login window where I
capture joe_user's ID and PW. joe_user now tries to update
the dw that is tied to MyTable. I get a DB error because (I
believe) that the DB is using appeon_user which has no
update roles on the DB.

I can't set up a connction cache for every single user.

You can setup the connection cache to use the supplied logins.
In other words, you can make it work like a client server app, and not
use a shared login.

the other option is to setup your shared db login to have the correct
roles. This is what is typical for web apps.
