Hi all,

One of our customers has been using the Motorola ES400 for 6 months now.
However, recently sporadiaclly on a few of their devices, the above error
message appears. There have been no changes in the last 6 months to their
system.

Could this be faulty hardware beginnning to develop or something else?

What's the most likely reason for this to happen?

Thanks,

Shao

Hi Shao,

I assume this is during an initial database open request? Have you been
able to discover whether this is on an .openConnection() or
.reOpenConnection() ? Do you know which open parameters you're using for
this operation?

---

In general, the database can't be accessed from its current location -
possibly the media isn't ready to be read from the device (is it on a
Flash card?), or yes it's possible the database files are getting
corrupted (either over time from media wear, or by something else going
on with the I/O in the devices like "resetting" them sporadically at
"bad times").

Regards,

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply. We're still trying to get some information from the
customer.

As they've used our application for a long time, they know the regular
errors that they'd expect to get, e.g. synchronisation failed etc.

But this is a new one. Most likely either:
- new device causing problems (but we've other customers with ES400s also -
although they haven't ran them for so long).
- new M-Biz client - we shipped out a new version with the ES400
- any misc code changes we may have made - I don't think we've made any
major changes, but I'm looking into one small tweak for automatic internet
connection when the device loses internet connectivity.
- any other problem.

We've asked the customer to monitor the devices over 2 weeks and compile a
list for us of the devices, times and the action performed so I'll know
better then.

I'm pretty sure the error happens once the user has already logged in and
using the application, but I can't think what could trigger that error
message which possibly suggests the database is locked by another process
maybe so it is not found? I don't think its hardware fault as an app sync
through the m-biz client afterwards resolves the issue until it next
happens.

I'l post back once I know more.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers,

Shao
