Hi!

We are in a project for apply Incremental Backup to our
databases in ASE 15.0.3

Our DBA said us that we have to eliminate a group of
sentence in our database for obtain a incremental backup
(sentence like SELECT INTO, ALTER TABLE)

But, in this group of sentence is not the sentence TRUNCATE
TABLE, I read in some paper that this sentence has to be
eliminate to apply Incremental Backup

What is the true?

The TRUNCATE TABLE command does not prevent the taking
of transaction log dumps. Although TRUNCATE TABLE does
not log the deletion of each row, the log records generated
for it are sufficient to apply the command when the transaction
log is loaded. TRUNCATE TABLE cannot be performed within
a transaction, so there is no issue of having to rollback
it's effects, which is why the details of the individual
deleted rows are not needed.

In general, you have to eliminate any command that
requires the sp_dboption "select into/bulk copy" option
be turned on, as well as "dump tran with truncate only"
and "dump tran with no_log".
