Is Sybase going to change its software download poilicy and
make it freely avaialble specially ASE, repservers, ASE
cluster edition?

Like oracle which provides full RDBMS version to freely
download(...it is up to you and your consciences to license
the software before using it). Its so convenient to download
and test oracle including all different features
dataguard, oracle streams, partitioning and even RAC with
right virtual nodes setup.

Any SAP mgmt guys listening out there...

You're asking a customer driven support forum to answer for Sybase policy?
There are some engineers who read these groups, but this is not the place to
ask (and expect and answer for) such a question.

While the "good conscience" theory makes a nice story, i wouldn't run a
business that way. Just my opinion though.

Look, if you want to seriously consider and enterprise product like CE,
Repserver, etc, ask your sales rep to give you a temp license for
evaluation. New car salesmen go for the ride on a test drive. Probably a
smart idea these days.

dumb oracle's market share speaks for itself, no
justification required.
