everytime I synchronize my newsgroups this forum lights up as if there is a
message in it, but there are none. I have to "catch up" to eliminate the
bold face in Outlook Express. Is this a problem on my end, or is there some
kind of rogue message on the server that needs to be removed at the Sybase
end?

I use JetBrains Omea Reader and don't see that problem. Is there a re-index
or similar option in Outlook Express? You might try deleteing (unsubscribing)
from that NG and then re-adding it.

unsubscribing didn't help. marking everything as read still leaves outlook
showing one unread message. doing a catch-up on the forum clears that but
only until the next download.
