I am trying to set up a new DB using the internet ServerType. I already
have one DB setup and working using the internet ServerType. I set it up
almost two years ago and it's working fine. It is accessed from a Delphi
application. Now I'm trying to setup an additional DB and I'm apparently
missing something. Your help will be appreciated.

The DB WHICH IS WORKING has the following connection properties:

ConnectionPath: \\\data\tippsdb.add
Username: AdsSys
TableType: adt
ServerType: internet
CommunicationType: tcp/ip
LockingMode: proprietary
CharType: ansi
SecurityMode: ignorerights
DBFTableType: cdx
BlankPassword: no

The DB dictionary FOR THIS WORKING CONNECTION has the following properties:

Database: \\\data\
Default: \\\data\TIPPSDB
Temp: \\\data\TIPPSDB
User Access: Logins Required is checked and Check User Rights is checked
Internet Access: Enabled is checked. Security Level is Authenticate &

I am trying create the new DB using Architect. In Architect, I am doing the

File|New Connection Wizard
Select Create a connection to a new database; Select Next
Select Create a connection to a new data dictionary; Select Next
Server Type: Remote Server
Database: \\\data\
Default: \\\data\TIPPSqsDB
Temp: \\\data\TIPPSqsDB

When I click OK, I get a message that says "The database path does not
exist, create it?". If I select Yes, I get the message "Failed to create
directory." If I select No, I get the message "Error 7083: An Advantage
Data Dictionary connection is required. axServerConnect"

I think the problem is related to the path. On the physical drive, the
data\TIPPSqsDB is actually a subfolder of a path off the root of the
physical drive. The full path is:

Apparently somewhere I have mapped the IP address of \\
to the physical path of c:\GCWData. But I don' t recall where that is done.

Please help. I need top get this going asap. Your help will be greatly

ARC uses the file system to create the files. You can't do it over the

The only possiblity I see: Create a connection to your location and run
a SQL statement:

In order to connect to an internet port, a data dictionary with AIS
enabled has to exist prior the above mentioned steps (Login required).
