Hi All,

I am upgrading a 32-bit 12.5 server to version 15.5. The
server runs on AIX. Although I really don't need a 64-bit
version of 15.5, I have heard that Sybase may eventually
phase out their 32-bit version. So I'd rather go to a 64-bit
version now.

Has anyone heard whether the 32-bit version is eventually
going to be phased out?

Thanks,
Mark Gearhart

Yes, this is in fact already happening.
For 15.7, ASE will only be available as 64-bit, with the possible
exception of Windows where the 32-bit version may hold out just a little
longer.
For 15.5 on AIX, ASE was already available as 64-bit only.

Rob V.

I had the same impression, especially after Techwave last year. My sales
contact at Sybase, however, won't say anything as such though, and wishes to
ding (actually, severely dent) my company for a platform exchange fee to go
from 32-bit to 64-bit. So, customer beware.. While there is a "phase-out"
going on, you might be asked to pay (big) for it ...
