I'm having some trouble with the big picture...

Can someone please point me to a document, ppt, webcast,
etc. that would present all the Sybase-supplied ways for
disaster recovery for ASE (e.g. HA, mirroring, cluster
edition, replication, etc.)?

It doesn't have to be detailed. I just want to get a good
idea of the options.

Currently, we don't have a way to recover other than
rebuilding a server and data from installs and dumps.

Thanks very much,
Mark Gearhart

Best bet is to contact Sybase Sales. They can come out with all the
associated technical people and answer all the questions. It's a lot
easier to get a straight answer if you have business and techie people
in that meeting.

Make sure that any proposed DR method would work with your companies'
applications and SLAs.

Take a tour through the Techwave presentation archives.

There are plenty of presentations about HA, Cluster, Repserver, Warmstandby,
SAN based replication/mirroring, Mirror Activator, etc.

Hmmm. I am surprized there is no overview from Sybase on
this subject. They have obviously done a lot of different
things to support disaster recovery / failover. And, its
important to everyone.

I'm sure there must be a document out there somewhere?

When you think about it and how Sybase as a company is like, then it
really isn't all that surprising. From the outside of Sybase, there
doesn't appear to be any clear plan or vision. Hopefully SAP will take
the reins.

I went to the sybase website and typed "disaster recovery" in the search
box. lots of results to comb through there, so I guess you have to try a
little harder to find what you are specifically looking for.

For example, one of the search results:
http://www.sybase.com/products/businesscontinuity/replicationserver/disasterrecovery

Ah yes, I see that. I was hoping for something that would
spell it out. The references are OK, I just need to build
the details myself. Looks like the details are tied into a
consulting gig by Sybase ProServ. They call it a "Disaster
Recovery Service Package".

I went to the sybase website and typed "disaster recovery"
