Hi

What are the overheads for using query metrics and tracefile
settings? Aside from the storage is there a performance
impact itself in turning on these options?

Thanks

I believe this is a topic that varies by machine and the configuration.
The best answer to the question is "it depends"...
What overhead numbers do you see on your systems?

Hi Cory

I do not have overhead figures. Just trying to ascertain any
large overhead that might have been published similar to MDA
for query metrics and tracefile usage. As an example if
needed OS config 64 bit 24 core 32Gb memory.

Thanks

For 'set tracefile', I have not heard of this causing any significant
overhead in terms of performance (but it can create really large
tracefiles).
For query metrics capture, as Cory says: "it depends". The overhead
could be larger when you've captured a lot of metrics and the
sysqueryplans table has gotten really big. I have heard about this
having an impact but I have no specifics, nor have I experienced that
myself.
