I received this email from Sybase last Friday.

You are receiving this communication because our records
show that you downloaded ASE 15.7 on the AIX-64 platform
during the first few weeks of its general availability. As
stated in the ASE Release Bulletin under CR 670302, the AIX
platform was released as a non-optimized binary to work
around some known issues. As of November 4, the issues have
been addressed and a replacement binary that is optimized
for performance is available. We recommend that you download
the replacement ASE from the Sybase Download Center at your
earliest convenience: https://sybase.subscribenet.com .

The link above takes me to the SPDC. The date on the latest
available version of 15.7 for AIX is Sept 27, 2012. I was
expecting a date of Nov 4th. Is this the correct download
but the date wasn't updated?

Thanks.

You should really check with Techsupport on this.

Or you could download what is there and check the version
string of the dataserver binary to see if it had "/FBO/"
(feed-back optimization) near the end of the version string

Thanks Rob. I just opened a case. I posted here thinking
this would be of interest to others that received the email
about the upgrade. I'll try to remember to post the
resolution once I hear back from tech support.

Tech Support confirmed that the binary on the website is the
new binary. The support person said this is a strange
situation in that he's never seen an original binary
replaced like that. Thanks for the replies. :-)

I believe that this is correct. I went to the spdc and attempted the
download of the image. It was called "ase157_aix64_02.tgz", when I
attempted a similar download for hpit, it was called
"ase1570_hpia64.tgz". So I believe you are getting image version "02"
of the aix distribution. So it looks as if there was just a shelf
replacement of the image and the date was not updated. diff of the
two "dataserver's" and looking at its version might reveal more
details.

A case with Tech Support could get this confirmed and documented.
