we currently have sybase 12 installed on our windows 2003
server and trying to migrate to 64 bit windows 2008 and
windows 7. Is this version supports 64 bit windows 2008 and
windows 7 since it is not working.

Hello,

Check the certification website for your exact version of ASE. It looks
like ASE 12.5.4 was certified for Windows 2008 but not Windows 7:

http://certification.sybase.com/ucr/platformResult.do;jsessionid=46bb8c3AAdXE058mMvM80i=hOfkmw?platformId=133&productId=2

The product was probably too close to be end-of-lifed to be certified on
the newer version of Windows.

That being said, make sure that the correct Windows C runtime libraries
are installed:

http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.dc35888_1254/html/installwin/X22779.htm

If the Windows has the correct runtime libraries, I would expect ASE to
install and run.

Thanks,
Neal

Well, the ASE 12.0.x version was declared end-of-life
on at the end of 2004, so I'd say it is certain that
it was never designed to support Windows 2008.

It was also only available as a 32-bit binary, which may be
a factor. The 15.0.3 and higher versions have a release
for 64 bit windows. 15.7 GA is the current release version.
