Recently I migrated our Sybase ASE SBE 15.0.3 to another server machine.

So I reinstalled ASE on the new machine, and checked-in the old license
and regenerated it from Sybase Product Download Center.

Now the newly-installed ASE failed to start-up, because it doesn't
accept the newly-generated license.

After studying C:\sybase\ASE-15_0\install\SERVERNAME.log, I found that
ASE is looking for a license with LT=SR, but my license file is LT=CP.
The license file is correct, we are using Chip license. It's just the
ASE is looking for wrong license type.

I guess I have mistakenly chosen the wrong license type during
reinstallation. But now I don't see any option to re-configure the
license type.

Below is part of C:\sybase\ASE-15_0\install\SERVERNAME.log:

00:00000:00000:2011/12/12 17:24:21.35 kernel SySAM: Using licenses
from: C:\sybase\\SYSAM-2_0\licenses
00:00000:00000:2011/12/12 17:24:21.70 kernel SySAM: Failed to obtain 1
license(s) for ASE_CORE feature from license file(s) or server(s).
00:00000:00000:2011/12/12 17:24:21.70 kernel SySAM: Licenses exist for
ASE, but a license containing the configured (PE=SE;LT=SR) attributes
could not be obtained. Verify that ASE is configured to use the correct
type of license, and either reconfigure; or generate and deploy the
desired license from the Sybase Product Download Center.

Use sp_lmconfig to reconfigure your ASE to use the 'correct' license.

If that still doesn't work you may need to update the c:\sybase\ASE-15_0\sysam\<dataserver_name>.properties file,
followed by a dataserver reboot.

ASE couldn't startup, I don't think I can run any sp_xxxxxx........?

I will try the <dataserver_name>.properties file tomorrow. Thanks!

Sorry, missed the 'failed to start-up' comment ... and yes, modifying the properties file should allow you to boot up
the dataserver (just make sure the 'PE=' and 'LT=' strings match the corresponding strings in your license file).
