Hi.

Only to clarify: I really need create a data dictionary to use tables over
internet?

I have a working application that doesn't use DD and I need access it via
internet.

I'm wondering if AIS doesn't need DD and I can open free tables.

My ads version is 9.

Thanks and best regards,

Toninho.

yes. But you can access free tables via the data dictionary, without
adding them to it.

Instead of making a connection to the folder (\\server\share\path), make a
connection to the data dictionary (\\server\share\path\yourdictionary.add).
Then if you make a request to open a table that is not found in the
dictionary, Advantage will look for a free table in the same folder as the
dictionary.

If a 5132 error is being produced, then it means that the underlying call to
AdsOpenTable is not passing the table type. I am not familiar with the
xHarbour RDD, but perhaps it is detecting that it is a data dictionary
connection and is not passing the table type to the AdsOpenTable call. If
it does not allow you to somehow set the table type to ADS_CDX, then it
might not be possible to do that. If so, then the simplest thing might be
to add the tables to the dictionary. With DBF tables, adding them to the
dictionary does not change the tables at all. So you can still open them
(if necessary) with other non-Advantage applications. One thing to be aware
of, though, if you do this is that it is best to restructure the table
through the data dictionary connection to make sure that the table metadata
in the dictionary actually matches the table.

Mark,

Thanks for reply.

I have set up with no luck:

adsSetFileType( ADS_CDX ) // o ADS_CDX

AdsRightsCheck(.F.)

If I add the table via ARC into the dictionary, it works.

But that´s what I want to avoid, as we have hundreds of tables.

I want to use the dictionary only for login users only.

How is this possible?.

Thank you very much.!!
