Hi Afaria experts,

We're new Afaria 6.6FP1 users and currently validating test
cases of iOS 5.x/Android devices.

A case where We'd like custom apps remove once a device's
owner left the company.

We try with Data Views | Clients | Device_Name | Security |
Remove control

and even delete the device (all remove check boxes checked)

It looks like MDM payload profile has removed successfully
from iOS 5 device, however custom apps are still there.

How do we force all custom apps to remove as well?

Thanks much for any help.

iOS does not allow for the remote removal of applications. Since the
provisioning policy for the apps has been removed, they can no longer be
executed from the device, so they're effectively dead - we just can't
physically delete them.

Thanks much Paul.

Your inputs really help. I checked the iOS device and the
inhouse/custom app profile still on the device after MDM
control removed so that app still works. I guessed the ipa
file deployed has the provision file embeded and not control
by MDM.

Another thing I'll try to look for answer is the selective
remote wipe, couldn't find anything in the reference guide.
Just wondering if Afaria has the capability to wipe just
some data, not the whole thing of iOS device.

Once again thanks much.

"Remove Control" is the selective wipe. It removes (or, in the case of
enterprise apps, disables) anything that Afaria provisioned. All policies
are removed, and email accounts are erased, but the "personal" data is left
untouched.

There is also the option of completely wiping the device back to factory
defaults, as you've found.
