I would like to push application settings to deployed iPads
for Apps that are defined in our Afaria Server for download.
An example is Sybase Mobile CRM.

Thanks

Rick

What version of Afaria are you running? You can now include configuration
settings with Package policies, which will be pulled down and applied to the
iOS device when the app is installed.

We are on version 6.6. How do I create a package policy
(for example Sybase CRM)?

Thanks Paul,

the manual was no help at all. I am looking for specific
instructions and an example for how it is done. This is not
an enterprise app but one being pushed out from the app
store.

Administration > Policies and Profiles
New... Portal Packages > Applications > iOS Appstore Application

Here's a screen shot for a Package Policy for Angry Birds.
All you need is the 9-digit identifier from the App Store. That part is
really fairly straightforward...

Once the policy is created, you assign it to devices or groups of devices in
the Group Profiles definition (Portal Packages tab).

Advanced topics would be offering redemption codes for volume purchases for
your employees, and providing configuration setup options upon app startup.

I had a similar question so I thought I would keep the
discussion within this thread. Some applications like Angry
Birds don't have a requirement for 'configuration' but
others like the Citrix Receiver can have accounts and other
settings you want pushed to the device. This would
eliminate the need for users to manually enter the
data/settings. I would like to:

1) Create an iOS portal package for Citrix Receiver (this is
easy enough to do)
2) Define Settings (ie. display and session settings, etc)
and Accounts (ie. Citrix Farm Name, Address, etc) that are
to be pushed to the device.

The documentation you referenced was not clear as to what
'format' these settings and information should be entered on
the "Portal Package - Configuration" tab. I have been
unable to locate a document, post, or KB article that
describes the process; any assistance/suggestions/guidance
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Darren Griffin.
