I am getting the following error when creating an FTS index on a memo
field type on Windows 7 using ALS. On Win XP using ALS I don't get this
error. With ADS I don't get this erro on both Win XP/Win 7.

Error 7200: AQE Error State = HY000; NativeError = 5211; [iAnywhere
Solutions] [Advantage SQL] [ASA] Error 5211: There is an error
converting Unicode string to or from code page string. Unknown code
page. Ensure that the correct adscollate.adt is installed.

From the Advantage help I understand that I have to ship the
adscollate.* files & unicode dlls if I'm using unicode data types in my
tables. But I'm not using a unicode data type, just a standard MEMO
data type. Am I missing something?

Hello Rafick,

What version of Delphi are you using? If you're using Delphi 2009 or newer,
you need the Unicode dlls and adscollate table, even if you don't have Unicode
fields. (This is because these versions of Delphi internally use Unicode
to represent all strings, so ACE must convert the unicode strings being passed
from Delphi into the appropriate ANSI string before using it.

That aside, there is one other potential case where the adscollate table
may be required: that's when using one of the dynamically-loaded collation
languages with Advantage Local Server. (I'm guessing that the Windows XP
machine is finding/using a copy of the collation repository as opposed to
the environment not needing it.)
