Dear all
I used to use "create existing table ... external file
.. column delimiter ..." to access text files in DB.
Yesterday, when I read the manual I found it's a easy way to
do it by
"create proxy_table ... external file ... column
delimiter...". So I have a try--
create proxy_table movies external file at '/tmp/movies.csv'
column delimiter ','
but it failed with error --
Msg 156, Level 15, State 2:
Server 'sybwpmtrn00', Line 1:
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'column delimiter'.

I checked again with the manual --
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.infocenter.dc32702.1570/html/omni_ug/title.htm
the "create proxy_table " statement should support
"column delimiter" parameter... I don't know why my
statement failed. Would anyone kind to help me on this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards
Eisen

This is a documentation error: you cannot use 'column delimiter' with
'create proxy_table'; it can only be used with 'create existing table'.
I'll submit a request to get the documentation corrected.

Would you please report this error too? --
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.infocenter.help.ase.15.0.3/title.htm&docSetID=1560
It missed "until_time = datetime" in "Makes a routine log
load" part in all ASE15 manuals. Thanks
