Hi,
In Appeon, all PDFs created using SaveAs() are Landscape,
even if the datawindow is designed for Portrait.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to do? We reported it
to Appeon Tech Support and they say it is a difficult issue
and they have no timeframe to fix it.

They recommend we print to a local PDF printer. We can
already do this, but some of our customers don't want any
software installed on the client PC. After all, this is a
web application - that's the whole point of Appeon.

Sincerely,
Victor Reinhart

Hi Victor;

FWIW: My only "work around" suggestion would be to create a PB NVUO
and expose this as a web service. Then call the WS component with your
DW's result set and have the WS return you the PDF. If the NVUO is
running under control of PBVM it will produce the portrait version properly.

Hi Chris,
Thank you. I did create such as web service, and it works
fine with datawindows without any nested reports.

To support nested reports, I think it's necessary for my web
service to have every nested report datawindow, and have it
"in-sync" with the Appeon PB application, and have it
connect to the correct database. Would you agree with this?

Sincerely,
Victor Reinhart

Hi Chris & Victor,

I've noticed this problem in Appeon 6.5 and it's related
with Default Printer Settings.

WebService isn't necessary! The workarround is simple (using
with Appeon 6.5.1):

if dw_1.Describe("DataWindow.Print.Orientation") = "0" then
dw_1.Modify("DataWindow.Print.Orientation='2'")
end if
if dw_1.Describe("DataWindow.Print.Paper.Size") = "0" then
dw_1.Modify("DataWindow.Print.Paper.Size='9'")
end if
dw_1.SaveAs(lsPDF,PDF!,True)

Regards,
Leonardo.

Hello,
please specify (e.g. from the PB painter) both:
- Paper Orientation (Portrait is option 2)
- Paper Size (e.g. A4).
I gave it a spin and it works.
Cheers,
M.

Hi All,

This Datawindow Saveas PDF functionality will be improved in
the upcoming APB EBF which will be available at the
beginning of this June. This latest APB EBF will support
portrait as the paper orientation.

I will let you know once the APB EBF is available.

Regards,
Flora
