Hi there,

I got an ADS multihomed server with 3 different NIC, let's say NIC1, NIC2
and NIC3.
Each NIC is connected to a different network by this way :

NIC1 is assigned an IP 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0.
NIC2 is assigned an IP 192.168.10.1/255.255.255.0
NIC3 is assigned an IP 192.168.12.1/255.255.255.0

I have a database, let'say DB1 known by its dictionnary (DB1.add and whose
access type is "remote").
We have some windows processes (written in delphi) acessing the database by
Tadsconnection/Tadstable without problem by setting "remote" in the
Tadsconnection.

There is no specifix IP adress set in the ADS.INI file and, in theory, as
mentionned in the documentation, the ADS server can listen and answer on
every NIC (NIC1, NIC2 and NIC3).

BUT :

On a second multihomed computer I have two NIC let's say NIC4 and NIC5.
NIC4 is assigned an IP 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0.
NIC5 is assigned an IP 192.168.10.2/255.255.255.0

A direct connexion is etablished with a RJ45 cable between NIC2 and NIC5 :
on the second computer we can ping 192.168.10.1 and on the first we can ping
192.168.10.2. We can share the folder of the database DB1 as FOLDER1 on the
first computer and acces it from the second by \\192.168.10.1\FOLDER1 we can
also attach a drive letter (E:) to this Folder.

the NIC1 and the NIC4 are on a same 192.168.1.0 network (via a switch) and
we can also ping one from the other and share folders.

But if we try to acces the database DB1 from ARC for example. When creating
the DB1 Alias associated with \\192.168.10.1\FOLDER1\DB1.add and with a
remote acces type, we unfortunately got a 6420 axServerConnect error when
opening the database. idem with \\E:\FOLDER1\DB1.add

Idem if we set the connect type parameter to "local" instead of "remote".

If we do the same thing with the path : \\192.168.1.1\FOLDER1\DB1.add all
works fine !

It seems, that we cannot "attack" the two NIC NIC1 and NIC2 in the same way
????

Can somebody here tell me why ? and how I can fix that ?

Thanks a lot in advance

6420 is a discovery error. Avoid it by specifying IP address _AND_ port

\\192.168.10.1:6262\FOLDER1\DB1.add

Ok, it works fine now.
I make the test with and without the specification of the port 6262 :
With it works and without it doesn't.
Thanks again Joachim
