I've seen two mentions now of a 12.5.2 MR on here.
is this actually planned?
how does the timeframe for this compare to the pb 15 release?

i have to say that the pb15 classic feature list has me really looking
forward to it.

We had been waiting for 12.5.x release before migrating from 11.5.1,
but are now thinking of just waiting for 15

Hi Mike;

FWIW: PB 12.1 for me and my many, many Canadian Government clients is
"rock solid". They have numerous, large and high volume applications now
in production over the past year using PB 12.1. So I feel very
comfortable recommending this version (build 6518)!

I have not heard of a PB 12.5.2 MR only an EBF to be released in
August (I believe). The PB 15 Road-map seems to have evaporated as far
as being qualified with exact dates and features (I guess the v15
road-map is still in Alpha). I hope that you are not in a rush for PB
15. :-)

thanks for the feedback chris. We didn't go to 12.1 since it didn't
have any compelling new features for us.
12.5 has some new features that we wanted, so we waited.

I don't know why people feel compelled to respond to a post that they have
no information about to indicate they have no information. For the record,
I don't know of a schedule for 12.5.2, but then I don't recall very many
MRs where I ever knew the schedule unless I got an early build to test it
out. The lack of information about its release isn't a sign of anything.

As for PowerBuilder 15, the roadmap they showed down here in LA is noted
at:

http://brucearmstrong.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/orange-county-sybase-user-group-meeting/

And some of the new features are covered in PBDJ articles:

http://pbdj.sys-con.com/node/2268529

http://pbdj.sys-con.com/node/2075216

At that meeting in December of 2011, the target date for PB15 was 4th
quarter 2012. I believe it may be 1st quarter 2013 now.

No. Fortunately the dolphins know about the Vogons and have created a new
Earth and will transport us all to it shortly before the Vogons destroy the
old Earth. It's part of their "Save the Humans" program:

No, the won't! The tried to warn us all the time when jumping through
wheels, kicking footballs, making funny noise. But humans failed and
thought it was just for amusement.

In that case ... there is no rush for PB 15 this year then! :-)

It seems probable that the tradition of TechWave releases will not be
observed this year. My unofficial surmises:
1. There are a lot of blackbirds in that pie so it takes a long time to
be fully baked.
2. Windows 8 will be released in October and they'll want to test PB 15
with the final version.
3. Those TechWave Release parties are very expensive!

Hi Jerry;

You make some good points!

1) Yes, I have heard the same about Techwave. Sounds like the
development stream based products could be all "up-in-the-air" SAP
conference wise.

2) W8 compliance would be a good thing on my "must have" list if I were
a manager or PB developer looking into dropping some coin on PB 15.

3) Hmmm ... party - doesn't that mean you have something to celebrate
about first? :-)

Thanks for the feedback

regarding point 3 ... Chris, you should know you do not always need a reason
to have a party ... look at your main client's history, having something to
celebrite is secondary to simply having a 'tax-payer funded' party :-)

Tax refund ... hmmm, normally we get to pay here in Canada! Although,
I think we could call that a "drowning your sorrows" party. LOL! :-)

trust me I know how much taxes we pay here in canada ... I give them 50% of
my income every year -> my point was you questioned the reason for sybase
having a party without anything to celebrate ... to which I responded, you
should be use to that, given your major client is the GoC... who are famous
for having GOVERNMENT FUNDED parties for no reason (including return-trip
transportation by helicopter - just in case the party conflicts with your
schedule) ... and they do all this without any real successes do they have
to celebrate :-)

JH/

PS: Sybase, I think there is plenty of reason to celebrate ... but again, I
am from the maritimes, where waking up is a good enough reason to have a few
beer. Now, if the bbq gets started, you have a good chance of starting a
block party :-)

Gotcha ya!

Not to mention being picked up by a Coast Guard helicopter from your
cottage so that you can get a free ride to the local public airport!

- or -

Using the GOC Lear jet to get to your favourite Caribbean hide away.

Then we have "Shared Services" ... LMAO, ROFL, etc - now there's a
reason to drink! (Ooops - sorry, lost control there for a second) <bg>.

Hi Bruce;

Hmmm - pretty old news now as that was December 2011.

I think Mike is looking for some current 2012 information.

Actually, the OP wasn't asking for information on PB15 at all. That was
only posted in response to you.

Where the is PowerBuilder. We need Suppport for MS SQL Server 2012....Anyone
there?

"Mike S" wrote in message news:4fad2d06$1@forums-1-dub...
