Hi folkd,
Creating a POC system with SUP and Afaria on one box.
SUP installed.
Installing Afaria but not getting install complete. I think
my problem is around the DB.
Here is what I have done.
1) Created a new directory for my Afaria DB "E:\AfariaDB"
2) Went in there and ran this command
E:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\SQLAnywhere12\Bin32\dbinit.exe
-dba dba,sql -dbs 50M -p 8192 afaria.db
and it returns Databae .... created successfully and I can
see it in the directory.
3) Run this command to register the service

E:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\SQLAnywhere12\Bin32\dbsvc.exe
-as -s auto -t network -w AfariaDB
"E:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\SQLAnywhere12\Bin32\dbsrv12.exe"
-x tcpip -c 24m "E:\AfariaDB\afaria.db”
It returns "Service ..... was created successfully" and
indeed I can see the service is created and sitting waiting
to be started in automatic state.
I go into the install, choose iAnyWhere server in the "SA
Server Name" I have to options <hostname>_primary or
sampledb-<hostname>
I enter the SA User Logon info dba/sql and the next screen
asks "Enter the name of the database where the data is to
resie" at this stage I try entering Afaria (the name of the
db I created) but it just says "specified database not found
.. native error =-03

I know this is probably simple but reading the Afaria
install guide 7 - it glances over HOW-TO create the database
and indeed it keeps referring to iAnywhere 11.

Can someone give command lines for creating the db properly
or have I done that?
Thanks

Hi,

Instead of SA as a DB Authentication, create one DB user
with Password Never Expire policy & try to connect to DB
with that user name & password.

I guess this will help as SA as a DB user is not recommended
by Afaria.

KR,
Mahendra

That sounds great, but can you give steps on how to do it? This our
first Afaria POC system

Even if I create another DB user (which I don't know how to
do ;-)
How will this help me seeing the afaria.db on the drop down
list to choose for the install? Currently I only see the
sample DB that was created as part of the SUP install on the
same machine.
Thanks in advance
