I'm anxious to upgrade my production server from 15.5
to 15.7 ESD#2, but my favorite backup utility does
not yet support the new kernel mode. Would I encounter
any problems if I stuck with the process mode for 15.7,
and switched to kernel mode at a later date?

I don't think that stops you from using threaded kernel mode for ASE.
Which kernel mode is used is purely internal to the ASE process. The
interfaces with all other processes will work fine irrespective of the
kernel mode used.

That's what I thought, but the vendor claims to have
seen anomalies with their product when using kernel mode,
and so they will not support it.

Would you mind sending me more information (directly, not in the newsgroup?)
