Hi,

We are running ASE 15.7 ESD #2 ONEOFF on AIX 6.1. When
application guys run a job it fails(runs fine in 15.0.3).
When we check the errorlog at that particular time, We see
the below error message. Do you know what is it ? We don't
have statement cache enabled. Not sure when do we get this
error message and how can we fix this ?

Error: 632, Severity: 20, State: 2
Attempt to move memory with an incorrect length of 28271.
Maximum allowed length is 16384.

Thanks in advance,
Raj

Hi.
Maybe this note will help you:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1096303
Bug id: 693329

Bug Description:
====
In rare circumstance, the message, "current process infected with signal
11" or error 632, "Attempt to move memory with an incorrect length of <
length > . Maximum allowed length is < max length > ." may be reported
with stack trace after upgrading to ASE 15.7.
====

This is "Targeted CR List for ASE 15.7 ESD#2" so I would contact
with Sybase Support to check if this bug was fixed or not.

Best regards

Marcin

This error is almost always due to a bug, which
may or may not already be a known bug. The most recent bug
causing a 632 with state 2 that I'm aware of was CR 693329,
which was fixed in 15.7 #2. It involved a select from an image
column, if your job involves image it may be that the
fix somehow wasn't complete. But it could be a completely
different root cause as well.

You should open a case with tech support to have it diagnosed;
tech support will almost certainly want you to capture
a shared memory dump on the 632 error to get more
information about why it is happening.

If this is repeatable and you can identify the exact
statement causing it, that is also very helpful.

Cheers,
-bret
