I develop in PB 11.5 Enterprise on Windows 2008 server, I
have a legal PB license served up through Sysam 2.2 license
server installed on the same physical machine.

I prefer this arrangement using Windows remote desktop to
develop in because it allows me to develop in the same
environment from multiple locations - that is my
requirement.

All works fine except if I'm in remote desktop session PB
doesn't see the permanent license but rather serves me the
license in Grace Mode requiring me to use the physical
console of the server to update the same license every 30
days!!! I'm not always at the physical location of the
server and almost never at that location when the license
expires every 30 days.

I've put up with this long enough - shouldn't a served
license be able to track the fact that it's been checked out
and allow only one use on this machine but still allow a
remote user to be the one to check it out? I apparently
misunderstand how the sysam server works.

If anyone has encountered this issue before I would
appreciate the feedback.

If its showng you grace mode ten it's not seeing the sysam server as a
served license. You actually have a Sysam service running on the machine?

Hello Bruce:

Yes it running - I'm attaching a text file displaying the
results that I get when I run a Sysam diag in the remote
session and what I get when I run the same command logged in
as the same user on a remote desktop session.

Looking at the menu/Help/About Powerbuilder here is the
contrast in what is displayed between same user logged in at
system console:

Status: Valid
License Mode - Standalone Served License
Server - mgasrv.WEST-MAR.COM
Install Date- 21 August 2009

now same user logged in through Remote Desktop:

Status- Grace Mode
Licence Mode - Standalone Served Licence
Install Date - 21 August 2009
Grace Expires - 28 November 2012

It's a 64-bit serrver or a 32-bit? Is IPv6 setup on your machine?

Andreas.

How did you determine the machine id? the default, or did you use the
lmtools utility to generate one based on somethign like the hard drive ID?
