Don't get me wrong, but - is that an official announcement?

If so, I'm somewhat surprised both because of contents, (lack of)
authorization, form and the timeline...

Small correction for the earlier posted link for newsgroups on SAP. Here is
the correct link for the SAP community and newsgroup blogging.
Follow the following link http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-18971
In addition to this the newsgroup will continue to be accessible in read
only mode till Feb end.We encourage all SDN newsgroup
subscribers to start using using the communities at the new scn.sap link
posted above. We have a huge collection of documents, videos, discussions
and other material that will help new users understand
how to use SCN - http://scn.sap.com/community/getting-started .

We are also working on roadmap to help SyDN users find what they need to
find. Along with that it will be helpful to have blogs that communicate what
needs to be done.
Hope this helps.

I've checked the link and couldn't find any information about SQL
Anywhere (only ASE). So that link seems not to be very helpfull.

IMHO that looks like a premature announcement.
