Hi

Findind checkpoint process regularly blocking other
processes for up to 10 mins on server. ASE 15.0.3 ESD3 on
Linux RHEL. Please suggest what could cause this. There is
no evidence of tempdb issues.

Thanks

I'd start with grabbing snapshots of monProcessWaits for the checkpoint process, with the objective being to see where
it's spending most of its time.

How many databases are there on the server?
Are the databases very active (lots of changes to
the data, causing pages in cache to become dirty
and in need of flushing?)

How many engines?
How many checkpoint processes are you configured for?
(sp_configure "number of checkpoint processes")

Hi Mark

22 databases. The server is active unsure how to determine
beyond this in terms of data changes. 6 Engines and default
1 checkpoint process. Not sure if this is adequate
information.

Thanks
