PB10 build 4510

I am trying to create a composite datawindow. When I select composite
datawindow in the datawindow tab, I get an application error message
that reads:

The instruction at “0x112a8886” referenced memory at “0x00720071”.
The memory could not be “read”

I then press cancel so the debugger comes up and message with the
title : “Microsoft Visual C++” comes up. It reads:

”Unhandled exception in Pb100.exe (PBVM100.dll). Access Violation.

I checked the dll and it is not checked off for “read only”

Does anybody have a solution to this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Tony

PB has a tendency to get a little wonky when you deviate the painter layouts
from the factory installed defaults.

Open the registry.
Go to the key HKCU\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\10.0\Layout\Default
Find the key named "Datawindow" and delete it.
Restart PB and try again.

Thanks for the responses. Touching the Registry Keys is out of the
question where I work. We have not applied any MRs to PB so it is
still at 10.0. Applying MRs is also out of the question here. Any
other ideas?

Ouch ... there were allot of fixes between 10.0 and 10.2.1 - many of them
in the "stability" realm.
Can you try a machine loaded with 10.2.1?

Are they still using DOS?
When was the last time they applied an upgrade or 'patch' to
the OS or any MS software? Sounds like it's time to search
for a more progressive place to work......

Maybe you could try to do to a RegistrySet() in script, but
I would suspect you do not have permissions. Maybe worth a
try.

There has got to be a way for you to ask someone who does
have permissions to fix it for you.

Again, thanks for everyone who responded to me on this problem. I
appreciate the sympathy I received.
I found a solution. What I did was take an existing composite dw, and
did a 'save as' and
just used that. Asking someone to go into the REG keys is also out of
the question here.
sincerely
Tony
