HI,

I began to do some testing installation on ASE 12.0 on a fresh machine with
128 RAM, running NT 4.0 Server with SP6a.
I have followed Sybase installation Guide on unloading files from media. On
page 30 step 9 " Click Next to continue the installation. The Studio
installere unloads the components from the CD and displays a progress
indicator. WARNING: if you are prompted to overwrite any DLLs loaded in
memory, select NO." The dlls in questions are 'libunic.dll and msvcrt.dll'.

The problem is that when i don't overwrite these files the server fail to
start during the configurations when running sysconfig. Therefore it fail to
create the server.

Then i burnt the image of the operating system back and unloading sybase
again, but this time i overwrite all the dlls library.
When i configure the server, it starts and everything is running fine. I
repeat the two scenarios just to make sure and it shown the same.

Is the installation guide wrong for WINDOWS NT.

Anyone elses came across the problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Shaun,

I believe the "do not overwrite the dlls" were specifically for NT 2000
not NT4. You should call 800-8SYBASE and log a "Documentation Bug".
Contrary to popular believe, you do not need a support contract to log
bugs or add feature requests.
