We currently use ASA 7 on Windows 2000 with replicated/synchronized
databases. We want to migrate these servers to Solaris. I downloaded the
ASA 8 for Solaris trial edition and installed it on a Solaris 8 box. I can
run a copy of the consolidated database fine but when I try to cut a new
sub-consolidated database the dbxtract fails on a table that is greater
then 2 gig. I have ran the extraction a couple of times and it always
fails when the file size hits 2147483647 bytes (or 2097151 kb or 2047 mb -
whatever you like :). Actually - it is not the dbxtract that fails the
instance of dbsrv8 that is running the db dumps core.
I have checked the filesystem and it is Solaris 8 that natively supports
files > 2 gig. I am able to cat files to the end of the failed dat file
that the extraction process makes so am pretty sure that it isn't a
filesystem/OS problem.

Finally, my question is - is this failing because the demo version of ASA 8
for Solaris doesn't have large file system support or is it something that
I am missing on the sun box.

The extraction works fine from the Window "licensed" software.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

If you can reproduce this then you should submit the case to Tech Support so
that we can get it resolved.

It worked on both solaris 8 and 9 once I installed the licensed media and
updated it to the current 8.0.2.368 version. I was able to extract the
same db that was giving me a problem with the demo version (I had updated
the demo version as well). Looks like it was something in the demo
version.
Thanks for your help
Daniel
