Can anybody help with a query I have regarding Manage Anywhere
scheduling....?

If the schedule of a package is set to execute weekdays, when connected to
high-speed LAN, once every 30 minutes. I've found that the package is
executed every 30 minutes after a user connects to the LAN instead of
executing it straight away and then 30 minutes thereafter.

Is this expected behaviour because we really require the package to fire as
soon as somebody logs on?

Any advice would be greatly received.

Thanks!

Hello,
Regarding your problem:
What version are you using and what OS?

Please check the following:

1-What is your Date set to and the Time:
2-Make sure the Time is set to 00:00:00

Note: if you still have the problem do the following:
1-Right click your agent and select options
2-Select the connection Tab.
3-At the bottom check the option that says Connect even if user is not
logged in. Now this is not support on Windows 95.

To test it again:
1- Remove the package from the client
2- Deploy the package while the user is logged out ( assuming you have done
step number 2 mentioned above)

Gavin,

In addition to what Ali has stated, the behavior you are seeing is the
default behavior, however, there are additional methods that you can use to
work around this issue. One method is to add one additional piece of logic
in your package that will deploy a batch file to the users Startup folder.
This batch file can contain one line which will execute the package you have
sent out. Keep all other existing logic and properties of your current
package the same. When you send out this package here is what would happen:

1) It would check to see if the batch file you created is found in the
Startup folder. If it isn't it will place it there, if it is it will do
nothing. Obviously, it shouldn't be there the first time the package is
deployed.

2) The package will continue to do whatever you have scripted it to do.
This package will execute once every 30 minutes as you have configured it to
do.

3) When a user reboots the machine and logs in, the package will be
executed immediately, because the batch file the startup folder will execute
the package. The package execute every 30 mins. thereafter.

As a side benefit of this package, even if the user deletes the batch file
from the startup folder it will be replaced withing 5 mins. the next time
the package executes.
